Toys and Games for Boys

Toys and games for boys can be a great, fun way of introducing learning into their lives. Younger children are fairly adaptable and enjoy playing with toys which introduce colour, shapes and problem solving. Coupled with some praise, parents can make learning fun and rewarding for boys.

Classic Games and Toys

Games for boys aged 2 and up are usually focussed on their developmental needs. Interactive toys for toddlers are normally unisex which makes it easier to choose a toy that boys will like. Number games, shape or colour games and spelling games are all great for introducing learning to younger boys.

Puzzles games are a great way to stimulate the mind of young children. They are also fun to play with the family or with a parent. There are a variety of jigsaw puzzles and games for all ages. Choose one with a picture of his favourite TV character to grab his interest.

There are also lots of different Lego sets available which can be built up and allow your little boy to think for himself. These can also be based on TV or film if you prefer or just stick to plain Lego and let him choose what to build!

TV and Film Toys

Toys based on TV shows and films are a fun idea as they allow boys to live in the imaginary world that they have been watching on television. Boys usually enjoy playing with toy trucks, cars or trains. Make it more fun buy purchasing some of the vehicles from the film Cars or choose some train sets based on Thomas the Tank Engine.

Some other hit children’s films and TV shows selling merchandise include Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Ben 10, Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers. It all depends on what your boys enjoy to watch so have fun going through the different TV shows he enjoys and looking for the toys to match!

Games for Boys Age 10 Plus

Older boys aged 10 to 12 may enjoy gadgets and gizmos as opposed to toy or dressing up games. This is a crucial stage in boys’ lives where they make the transition from primary to secondary education and their core interests will become apparent. The majority of boys enjoy football, but there are a variety of activities they may enjoy if introduced to them. New gadgets and technology are usually top of the list but for something a little different, why let them try their hand at making something new?

Just as girls can make their own bracelets and so on, boys can try building classic cars or ships from scratch with some help. There are various kits, some of which are based on film and TV. If they don’t enjoy this then they may prefer to stick to the ready built toys.

There are endless options including motorised toy helicopters and cars with remote controls. You may even want to continue their learning with games and toys. There are plenty of fun educational games. Boys tend to enjoy science based subjects so why not give it a go!
